Training Run 3

As Start Referee, I am up at the start early every day. It is a great place to watch the event 'ski by' as everyone comes by the start on their way to the course....course workers, coaches, techs, TV guys, photographers, timing crew, security, dye crews, slippers.....   I get a wave or thumbs up from most of them.  There are also those that come up through the start tent for a selfie.

There is some down time this morning and since it was a frosty day, I did give a start tent 'shout out' to the grands - Bex, Sienna, Kieran & Spencer back in Calgary.

The morning was foggy as the slip crews prep the course.

We found out that it didn't take long for the sun to come out and it was a good training run.
I take no pictures when are running because I'm busy holding that Olympic clipboard of mine but after the training run, there is a flurry of activity along the course.
Here the Swiss Timing guys and the OBS camera crew teardown their equipment that they run inside the start tent. None of the critical/expensive stays on hill overnight.

As we are on the eve of the Olympic Downhill race, media crews all want a piece of Markus, the Chief Race Director...

Since the next day is the big show, the grandstands seats are cleaned.

So that the venue looks pristine (ie white) for the TV production, they post the following signs to ensure that what little snow there is, near the finish area, stays white.

There was even a mat to wipe your boots on before entering that zone in the finish area.

In anticipation of potential snowfall through all of the events, there is a fleet of snowblowers on the mountain. These 4 are just the ones to clear any snow near the finish and grandstands. These ones were still wrapped in plastic.

It takes the meaning of 'buff and shine' to the next level....but hey, this is the Olympics.
